Affirm
Apply at the shop

Affirm approves you for an amount and a term, pays the school, and you pay Affirm over time, so you finish paid off. The exact down payment and the weekly or monthly amount are set at your tour and written into your enrollment agreement before you sign.

Outside help
Checked at your tour

Workforce programs, a sponsor, an employer or family can help cover tuition. We help you check what fits at your tour. Nothing is promised until it is confirmed in writing.

Affirm financing available, subject to approval. This is not federal financial aid. Financing terms, the refund policy, and the 3-day cancellation right are in your enrollment agreement.

Chair math

Run the haircut numbers

Move the sliders and see how price, pace, and schedule change the math. This is gross service revenue only, before the real costs of doing business.

Next move

Bring the numbers to the shop

Run your haircut price, then tour the floor and ask how training, schedule, kit, and payment options fit your real life.

Final launch offer

Kit, payments, and the real cost of starting

The position is simple: $6,000 for the full 1,000-hour Class A program, a $100 registration fee, tools you buy through our own barber supplier, and financing through Affirm if you want to spread it out.

Student kit

Own it, keep it

Tools are bought through the DTX barber supply, not bundled into tuition: clippers, trimmer, guards, shears, razor holder, combs, cape, mannequin, textbook, and starter station basics. Approved outside tools are allowed.

  • Final contents and price are confirmed at your tour before signing.
  • Buy through DTX for one clean package, or bring approved tools of your own.
  • Clean towels, laundry, and shared shop supplies are handled separately by the school.
Monthly math

Know the monthly pressure

Simple planning math: $6,000 across a 9-month target is about $667 a month. Affirm sets your own terms based on what you are approved for, so it can be stretched longer. Tools and state fees are separate.

  • Planning example only, not your signed payment schedule.
  • Exact down payment and schedule are confirmed at your tour.
  • Every number in writing before you sign.
Tour sheet

Leave with one page

Every serious student should leave the tour with tuition, kit estimate, fees, schedule, payment path, and next step on one clear sheet.

  • Bring your work schedule and budget questions.
  • Ask about workforce, veteran, employer, or family support options.
  • Ask to see the TDLR school license (#706114).

Kit decision

Your tools, your pick, through our own supplier

Tuition does not bundle a kit. DTX runs its own barber supply, so you buy the tools you actually want at our cost instead of paying for a kit somebody else picked. Tools you already own are welcome, so nobody pays twice.

Tools through the DTX supplier
you choose

Nothing is bundled and nothing is marked up into tuition. Your tools are yours, and Mike helps you pick what is worth buying.

What you will need

  • Professional clipper, trimmer, guards, and clipper care basics
  • Cutting shears, blending/thinning shears, razor holder, and replacement blades
  • Barber comb set, sectioning clips, spray bottle, neck duster, and cape
  • Mannequin head, textbook/workbook, notebook, and portfolio photo checklist
  • Starter station basics: brush, oil, gloves, small disinfectant container, and personal storage

What DTX provides while you train

  • Clean towel flow and laundry for the founding class
  • Shared shop sanitation supplies and station reset standards
  • Supervised clinic setup when students are ready for clients
  • Kit review, tool approval, and replacement advice before money is wasted

Your visit

Know what to expect.

A serious student does not need hype. They need to know whether this fits their life, what happens when they show up, and what questions get answered before money ever moves.

Your 20-minute tour

What happens when you walk in

  1. 0-5 minMeet Mike, see the classroom, stations, sanitation setup and shop flow.
  2. 5-12 minReview schedule, 1,000-hour path, first 30 days, and how students get cleared for floor work.
  3. 12-18 minGo through tuition, tools, state fees, Affirm financing, and your start date.
  4. 18-20 minLeave with the next step: stay on the list, bring docs later, or wait for a future class.
“I have no experience.”That is fine. Phase 1 starts with fundamentals, sanitation, tools and control.
“I work during the day.”The schedule bends to you: Monday to Friday, daytime and evening hours available.
“I am worried about the price.”The tour gives you the full cost sheet before any agreement is signed.
“Is the school licensed?”Yes. TDLR school license #706114, and nothing is signed until you have read the paperwork.

What your tuition buys

The price should make sense before you sign

Tuition covers training: hours, instruction, supervised practice, and exam preparation. Student-specific costs stay separate, explained, and written down before you sign.

Core training

1,000 hours

Theory, practice, sanitation, shaving, haircutting, and supervised floor work as you move toward the Class A license.

Supervision

Work seen up close

The founding class is small on purpose. The promise is real correction, not disappearing inside a room that is too big.

Career basics

More than technique

Booking, pricing, client service, content, interviews, professional habits, and the discipline to keep a chair busy.

What's not in tuition

The only extra costs

Refunds and cancellation

If you change your mind

Texas law gives every student a full refund if you cancel by midnight of the third business day after signing the enrollment agreement. After you start, refunds follow the state's withdrawal schedule, spelled out in your agreement before you sign anything. Nothing is signed until you have read the full agreement.

Money questions

01Is this financial aid?

No. This is not federal financial aid. You can pay in full, apply for Affirm financing, or ask us to help you check workforce, veteran, sponsor, or outside financing paths. Start with the funding check if money is the main question.

02What is not included in tuition?

Your tools, books, state exam fees, and license application fee are separate. DTX runs its own barber supply so you buy the tools you actually want at our cost. Tools you already own are welcome. Exam and license fees are paid to the testing company and TDLR.

03When is the first start date?

The first class starts October 5. The school is licensed by TDLR (school license #706114) and enrolling now.
